All about Depression
Everyone feels low, sad or despondent from time to time. If these feelings are intense and last for a while (more than two weeks) then you may have depression. People with depression feel deeply sad or hopeless and sometimes they feel angry or irritated at the world. It’s often hard to get out of bed when you’re depressed, yet getting to sleep or staying asleep isn’t easy either.
If you have depression you might find it hard to get motivated to do things and you may not feel like doing the things that you once enjoyed. When someone has depression often they are not the only ones who suffer. People close to them like family and friends notice that they aren’t themselves and worry about how to help them get better.
People with depression often feel ashamed about admitting that they aren’t doing well, they feel like they should just “pull themselves together and get over it”. Some people try to pretend they are doing well even when they’re not because they don’t want others to worry about them. Please put your hand up if you aren’t coping, there is no shame in admitting it and by asking for help you’ll get better sooner.
