How do we help?
At Select Counsellors our goal is to make sure you are matched with the best fit therapist for you. Research has shown that the most important element for a successful outcome in therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist, so we focus on getting this right. Many people find one of the biggest hurdles in seeking help is the fear of the unknown. Not knowing the person they are being referred to and the fear they may end up with the wrong person or with someone who is not experienced in the issues they are facing.
We ensure you are matched to the right therapist so you receive the best help possible and achieve the change you are seeking.
How do we match you to the right therapist?
We do a detailed assessment of you and your needs, the assessment is carried about by a qualified therapist. In this assessment we ask you about some key areas such as your goals, needs, current circumstances, life history, personal requirements, learning styles and other preferences. We gather an understanding of practical requirements such as location, cost and gender as well as more complex issues such as personality preferences, ways and methods of working and previous experiences.
Based on this assessment of you our assessment team then match you to the right therapist who is best able to meet your needs.
What if the therapist isn’t the right one?
Once we have matched you with a practitioner we want to make sure we got it right. If for some reason we didn’t, we will work with you to make a second match to ensure you get what you need. After that Select Counsellors will continue to touch base with you from time to time throughout your therapy to get your feedback.
