Select Counsellors specialises in finding Sydney based clients their best fit psychotherapist. Select has developed a convenient over the phone assessment process ($55 incl GST) whereby we interview you in detail about your particular issues, objectives, and history prior to matching you with your best fit psychotherapist.
Research has shown that the most important factor for a successful result is the relationship between you and your psychotherapist.
Select Counsellors has developed a unique Sydney and Sydney matching process to ensure you access the most suited psychotherapist for you.
It's commonly known that people have found a psychotherapist who was selected purely based on convenience to where they live or work. The counselling often doesn't work as well when there is a lack of a strong relationship between individual and psychotherapist.

Pete's tale of depression and sorrow
I think I have been flat since I can remember but I didn't call it that. Mum was sad when I was a child and I remember her crying a lot and not being able to move from the lounge, sort of comatose. I used to lose my temper all the time because I wanted her to do things with us.
To be honest, I've felt kind of flat more often than not since I can remember. I imagined that was the way everyone was but after my wife and I married it dawned on me not everyone was this way. Over time I have drunk a lot, a few drinks each night and this didn't sit well with my wife and we started to have problems in our marriage. I had difficulty stopping drinking and I'm unsure if I really wanted to. My wife left in the end and my drinking deteriorated further for a while. I began to feel more low and I locked myself away at home.
I'm close to my sister and she watched out for me. I knew she was worried and she kept telling me I should go and see someone. Eventually after a particularly bad day I told my sister I would see a psychologist and she found a name for me. I've only been going for a couple of months but it's helpful to address it, as I couldn't go on like that.
